Story

We started Apex Outfitter in 2012 with a simple idea: the Triangle deserved a locally owned outdoor shop that actually reflected how we live here — active, community-driven, and always ready for the next adventure.

Kyle and Megan Denis opened our flagship store in the heart of Downtown Apex, inside the historic Tobacco Mule & Exchange Building — a 1917 warehouse that once stored tobacco and stabled mules. Today it's stocked floor to ceiling with the best outdoor and action sports gear in the region.

Over the years we've evolved from a scrappy local shop into the Triangle's go-to outfitter for trail runners, paddlers, skaters, hikers, and anyone who'd rather be outside. We carry the brands you trust — Patagonia, Vuori, On Running, Birkenstock, The North Face, Cotopaxi, Rainbow, Olukai and more — and our staff actually uses this stuff.

We believe a great outdoor shop should do more than sell gear. We host community events, support local trail stewardship, and try to be a genuine resource for the outdoor life in NC — whether you're planning your first camping trip or training for your tenth ultramarathon.
